The Still Waters Family

Every animal on our homestead plays a small but important part in daily life. Unfortunately, life happens, and when an injury sidelined us from properly caring for our donkey, sheep, and ducks, we had to downsize for a season. We hope to welcome those animals back next year, and we're especially looking forward to fresh sheep milk (if you haven't tried it, you should!).

Here are a few of the faces that help keep Still Waters Homestead running these days with steady, everyday grace.

Our Mixed-Breed Chickens

Our Five Farm Cats

Our flock is a humble mix of breeds, nothing fancy, just faithful providers of fresh eggs that keep our family and neighbors well fed.

We started with two farm cats, inherited a third, and welcomed two more from a stray mother before we were able to have her spayed. Together they keep watch over the barns and fields, adding quiet company to our days.

Our TAMUK Rabbits

We raise TAMUK meat rabbits, chosen especially for their remarkable heat tolerance—an important quality during our sweltering Tennessee summers. They are raised thoughtfully and cared for as an important part of our homestead.

Our Stocked Pond

We also enjoy a pond stocked with catfish, bass, and bluegill—a peaceful part of homestead life and a favorite place to cast a line.

Finding Teetsy: Can You Spot Her?

Teetsy is our gray farm cat, and she blends into the farm surroundings so well that finding her has become a game. Take a close look—can you spot her?
