Why Beloved? Part Five — The Aromatic Blend

These oils are in Beloved for more than their scent. I chose precious botanical oils for this blend because I wanted every part of Beloved—even its aroma—to have a purpose in a facial treatment. Australian Sandalwood is the creamy, grounding heart of the blend.

It also contains naturally occurring compounds that have been studied for their skin-soothing potential. That made it a meaningful choice for a product designed to feel comforting on the skin. Frankincense Carterii brings warmth and depth, but its place in Beloved goes beyond that familiar resinous scent.

Research with frankincense essential oil and human skin cells has explored its effects on processes related to the skin’s response to stress. Its botanical potential is part of why I chose it. Rose Absolute is included with a light hand.

I wanted its beauty without a strongly rose-scented balm. Rose extracts have shown antioxidant activity in laboratory research, making this tiny touch of rose more interesting to me than fragrance alone. Helichrysum was one of the oils I was especially excited to include.

Research on Helichrysum italicum essential oil has explored its role in skin barrier processes. I chose it for that skin care potential as well as the delicate herbal note it brings to the blend. Mimosa Absolute softens everything with a gentle, powdery warmth.

I chose it for the experience it creates: an aroma that feels welcoming when you open the jar and take a moment for yourself. These oils are among the more costly ingredients I chose for Beloved. Their scent is beautiful, but fragrance alone wasn’t the reason I reached for them.

I wanted a blend shaped by thoughtful skin care choices and the pleasure of using it.
