Why Beloved? Part Two — The Powerhouse Plant Actives
Beloved contains some beautiful botanical oils and butters—but it’s much more than a blend of moisturizing ingredients. I also chose advanced, plant-derived actives used in premium skincare formulations, and I’d love to introduce you to three of Beloved’s powerhouse ingredients. REMODELLING INTENSE Remodelling Intense is a concentrated extract made from the flower buds of Acmella oleracea, also known as Spilanthes.
This remarkable botanical is prized in premium skincare for its visible smoothing and firming properties. Manufacturer testing reports that its smoothing effect may be noticeable beginning with the first application, while continued use can support skin that looks firmer and more refined. Beloved actually receives Spilanthes in two forms: my own Spilanthes-infused Meadowfoam Seed Oil and concentrated Remodelling Intense.
The infusion allows Spilanthes to become part of Beloved’s nourishing botanical oil base, while Remodelling Intense provides a more concentrated and targeted active. Together, they make Spilanthes one of the defining botanicals in Beloved. BAKUCHIOL Bakuchiol is often described as a botanical alternative to retinol—but I think it deserves more credit than being treated as an imitation.
Derived from the Babchi plant, Bakuchiol has been studied for its ability to improve the appearance of fine lines, uneven tone and overall skin texture. In one published 12-week study, a formulation containing Bakuchiol produced improvements comparable to a retinol formulation in the appearance of wrinkles and uneven pigmentation, with less reported scaling and stinging. That study was conducted on specific formulations, not on Beloved itself.
But the research helped me understand why Bakuchiol deserved a meaningful place in my formula. Beloved contains 99% pure Bakuchiol at a research-aligned usage level—not just a tiny amount added so I can put its name on the ingredient list. SEPILIFT DPHP Sepilift DPHP is an advanced, 100% plant-powered active created by combining a plant-derived fatty acid with an amino acid and a natural plant sugar.
It was developed to support skin firmness and elasticity, and manufacturer testing indicates improvements in the appearance of wrinkles, firmness and facial contours. So, what makes this combination so special? Remodelling Intense provides targeted botanical smoothing.
Bakuchiol supports the appearance of texture, tone and fine lines. Sepilift DPHP supports the look of firmness and elasticity. Each one approaches the visible needs of changing skin in a different way, and I chose them because they complement one another within the complete Beloved formula.
I didn’t select these ingredients simply because they’re fashionable or sound impressive. I researched what each one could contribute, used them at purposeful levels and built the rest of the formula to support them. That’s the difference between adding trendy ingredients and thoughtfully formulating with them.
